Step-by-Step

How to confirm your benefits

Follow these simple steps before your first session.

01

Use real-time partner verification

Our partner platforms (Fay Nutrition and Nourish) have direct digital integrations with insurance carriers that confirm your in-network status, deductible, and co-pay in 2 minutes.

02

Most clients pay $0 out-of-pocket

Under the Affordable Care Act and preventative health guidelines, many commercial plans cover preventive nutritional counseling at 100% with no co-pay.

03

Confirm your state & plan type

Telehealth licensing and insurance contracts depend on your state of residence. Both partner portals will verify that Rachael Richardson is licensed in your state.

HSA / FSA & Private Pay Options

Flexible payment options

If you do not have health insurance, or prefer not to use insurance for privacy reasons, private pay consultations and superbills are available. Registered dietitian services qualify for pre-tax Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

Private Pay Inquiries

To inquire about current private pay pricing, appointment package structures, or out-of-network superbill availability, submit a brief message via our contact page.

Frequently Asked

Coverage questions, answered

Clear answers on medical nutrition therapy billing.

Does Nutrolution® directly bill insurance?

No. Nutrolution® does not directly bill insurance. Instead, Rachael Richardson sees clients through approved clinical partner networks — specifically Fay Nutrition and Nourish — who handle all in-network billing, claims processing, and eligibility verification on your behalf.

Which insurance plans are frequently in-network with our partners?

Our clinical partners typically work with major commercial insurers including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana, and Medicare (for specific qualifying conditions like diabetes or renal disease). Always verify your individual member ID directly through the partner portal before booking.

What if my insurance does not cover nutrition counseling?

If your plan has a high deductible, out-of-network restrictions, or no nutrition benefit, private payment arrangements or superbill provision for potential out-of-network reimbursement can be discussed. You can also use HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) funds for registered dietitian services.

Do I need a doctor's referral before booking?

Most commercial plans do not require a formal doctor's referral for registered dietitian visits. However, some specific HMO plans or Medicare require a primary care physician order. The Fay or Nourish intake portal will flag if a referral is needed for your specific policy.
